Your Mac is only really safe if your operating system and apps are up to date. It is therefore essential that you carry out software updates regularly. We'll show you how to update macOS and your programs, how to be reminded of new updates and how to install updates automatically:

1st step:

Open the App Store via the apple icon at the top left in the system bar. To do this, click on the apple and go to " App Store ... " in the menu . Alternatively, you can also access the App Store directly via the dock.

2nd step:

Go to " Updates " in the bar at the top of the App Store . All available new updates will now be displayed there. Now you can decide whether you want to start all updates at the same time via " UPDATE ALL " ...

3rd step:

... or whether you just want to install individual apps or macOS updates.

1st step:

You can also set your Mac to be reminded of all new updates or even to install them automatically. To do this, open the system settings via the dock at the bottom of the screen by clicking on the gear icon .

2nd step:

Go to " App Store " in the settings .

3rd step:

First check the box next to " Check for updates automatically ".

4th step:

Now you can choose whether you only want to be reminded of new updates (" Download new updates available in the background ") or whether and which updates should be installed automatically.

Quick guide to carry out updates

2. In the App Store, go to " Updates " in the top right-hand corner . All available updates for macOS and your installed apps will now be displayed there. You can also see which updates have been made recently.
3. Now you can either use " UPDATE ALL " to carry out all updates at once, or you can only install individual updates by clicking on " UPDATE " to the right of the program .

Quick guide to automatic update

1. You can also set your Mac to be reminded of all new updates or even to install them automatically. To do this, open the system settings via the dock at the bottom of the screen by clicking on the gear icon.
2. Now go to " App Store ".
3. You can now check the "Automatically check for updates" and "Download new available updates in the background" checkbox to be informed about new updates on a regular basis.
4. By also checking the box next to "Install app updates", "Install macOS updates" or "Install system data files and security updates", updates are even carried out automatically .
