The Apple ID is permanently linked to Apple services such as the App Store, iCloud, FaceTime or iMessage. As part of the European General Data Protection Regulation, Apple has introduced a newly introduced deletion option that is more convenient for the user. You can read below how this works via the privacy page of your Apple ID in the browser.

What happens if the Apple ID is deleted?

You should know beforehand that if you delete your Apple ID, you will lose all access to all Apple services and your purchases that are linked to them. You will no longer have access to your iCloud storage. This also deactivates all purchases made via the App Store or iTunes. So back up all of your iCloud data that you will need in the future. In summary, we list all the facts that go hand in hand with the deletion of the Apple ID:

• You will no longer be able to access your iTunes and App Store purchases .
• You no longer have access to iCloud and all of the data stored in it.
• You will no longer be able to receive messages through iMessage or FaceTime .

What preparations need to be made?

If you want to delete your Apple ID, you have to make a few preparations:

• First, sign out of Apple ID on all of your devices and in the browser. This is important because the device can otherwise be locked within a period of time after deletion. Read here how this works for the iPhone or iPad.
• Turn off Find My iPhone.
• Back up your iCloud data.
• You can spend any remaining credit or give it away to friends as a voucher.

How is Apple ID deleted?

The deletion of the Apple ID including the iCloud account can be requested at privacy.apple.com . Please note our information from the previous sections . Then you can follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the quick start guide .

1st step:

Open privacy.apple.com and enter your Apple ID a.

2nd step:

Enter your password and press [Enter] .

3rd step:

Answer the security questions you have set, and then click Continue .

4th step:

Under " Manage your data " select the option " Request deletion of your account ".

5th step:

You will now be informed by Apple of all general conditions that come with the deletion of the account. Read them carefully. Select a suitable reason and click " Next ".

6th step:

Apple will notify you again of all canceled and deleted services . Follow the instructions and then click on " Next " below .

7th step:

Read the terms of use of the deletion. Activate the checkbox next to " I have read these terms and conditions and I agree to them ". Then click on " Next " again.

8th step:

Specify how you would like to receive updates on account status . Then click on " Next ".

9th step:

Apple will now issue you with an access code , which you will need when you contact Apple Support regarding your request. Make a note of this and click " Next ".

10th step:

Enter the access code in the field provided. Then you go to the next step again with " Next ".

11th step:

Apple will remind you of the consequences of deleting it. If you agree, click on " Delete account ". The deletion is now carried out. For security reasons, this is checked by Apple and can take up to seven days .

1. Open privacy.apple.com and enter your Apple ID including password one.
2. Answer the security questions and click " Continue ".
3. Select " Request deletion of your account " below .
4. Read the terms of deletion and click " Next ".
5. Apple will notify you of the deleted services. Click on " Next " again.
6. Read the terms of use and activate the checkbox . Click on " Next " one more time .
7. Select an option to receive updates on account status . Click on " Next ".
8. Make a note of the access code and click " Next ".
9. Enter the access code and click "Next" again.
10. Now go to "Delete Account". Your account will then be deleted by Apple within seven days .
