Your Avira Antivirus no longer starts? We'll explain what could be the cause and how to fix the problem..

By default, the Avira Antivirus program starts automatically after Windows starts. But sometimes there can be problems starting the software. The reason for this is an update of the anti-virus scanner. But don't worry, you can easily eliminate this problem.

Change Avira start options

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the quick start guide .

1st step:

Enter " Services " in the Windows search bar and then click on the search result of the same name.

Now look for the Avira services . Check whether all services have " Automatic " under " Startup type " . If this is not the case, right-click on the service and select " Properties " in the menu that appears .

Next to " Startup Type ", open the drop-down menu and then select the " Automatic " option . Then click on the " Apply " button to save the settings. Repeat this process for each service whose start type is not " Automatic ".

Open Avira Antivirus and click on the " Real-Time Protection " button on the start page .

Now disable real-time protection by clicking on the slider .

Now open Windows Explorer and show hidden files. Read here how you can display hidden files. Then open the file path " C: \ ProgramData \ Avira \ Antivirus " and locate the " EVENTDB " folder . Make a right click on it and select " Delete ".

4th step:

Now switch to Avira and activate again the real-time protection . Then restart your computer.

Uninstall Avira
