In addition to a variety of other functions, the Steam client also offers internal voice chat. This voice chat gives you the opportunity to communicate with Steam users friends and fellow players even during the game. We'll show you how to start voice chat. So you don't have to use external programs such as Discord, Teamspeak or Skype.
Voice chat with friendly users
To talk to an individual on the phone, you can simply start a voice chat with the user. The only requirement: The selected user must be in your friends list (and of course online)..
1st step:
In the Steam client, click on " Friends & Chat " or " Friends & Chat " in the lower right corner . Your friends and chat lists will open. 2nd step:
Select the friend you want and right click on it. Now you can click on " Start voice chat ". As soon as the other user also accepts the invitation to voice chat, you can talk to each other via Steam. Voice chat in a group chat
When you are in a group chat, you can directly open a voice channel for the whole group. Then everyone who is in group chat with you can join this voice channel and thus communicate with you. This is particularly useful if you have set up a group chat for one of your games and can thus speak directly to your fellow players.
1st step:
Call the group chat from the chat list. Then click on an existing voice channel on the left or select " Add voice channel ". 2nd step:
Now all users of the group chat can join your open voice channel. So you can easily communicate via voice chat. Tip: If you want to leave the voice channel again, all you have to do is click on the door symbol with the arrow.
