You have probably seen the first line of a paragraph indented within text. This is a common style for fiction and academic writing. But you don't have to be a scientist to add a hanging indent to Word.

How to insert a hanging indent in Word

1st step:

Open Word and finish writing your paragraph. Then place the cursor at the end of your paragraph. Then click the small right-pointing arrow at the top of the Paragraph category .

2nd step:

Remain in the tab " Indentations and Spacing " and click on the drop-down menu under " Special indentation " . Then select the " Hanging " option and click " OK ".

3rd step:

The indentation should now appear in the text.
