If you have bought a "ready-made PC" but want to replace individual components yourself, you will need information about your hardware. There are several ways to determine the configuration of your computer. You can use your own Windows tools or external programs.

Read out hardware using Windows

  1. Open " Run " with [Windows] + [R] (from Windows 8) or by entering "Run" in the search bar under Start. Now enter " msinfo32 " and confirm with [OK] or by pressing [Enter] . Alternatively, you can also enter "msinfo32" in the search bar and open it.
  2. The system information will now open . Click on the top item " System overview " in the left bar . Here you get an overview of selected components
  3. To get more detailed information on individual hardware, use the " Components " tab and select the relevant component.

A lot of information about the system and its hardware can be read out in the Windows system information.

Read out hardware with the help of external programs

External programs sometimes offer even more detailed functions than the "System Information" under Windows. For example, you can display the utilization of the components in CPU-Z. In addition, HWMonitor offers a temperature display. You can find additional hardware analysis tools at heise Download.
Many manufacturers of such programs offer a portable version, so you do not have to install any programs on your computer.
