You can listen to music on Spotify even without a network connection by simply downloading it. Deleting is just as easy..

The Spotify streaming service allows you to listen to your favorite songs even without an active internet connection if you use the premium version. This works by simply downloading these from your Spotify app. Your music will then be saved on your device. But if you want to get rid of the downloads in order to gain some new storage space, simply follow our instructions.

How to delete Spotify downloads

Desktop

Open the Spotify app on your computer. You will now see your playlists on the left. If there is a green arrow next to it, it means that this playlist has been downloaded. To delete the downloads, select the playlist and click on the slider in the upper right corner . All the songs on your list will then be removed from your device. If you only remove a certain song from your downloaded playlist, it will also be automatically removed from your downloads.

Delete playlists from the smartphone

When you download playlists, all the songs are automatically saved in them. Likewise, if you remove your playlist from downloads, they will all be deleted as well. You cannot remove individual songs. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

Open the Spotify app on your smartphone. Now first look in the settings to see how much storage space your downloads are taking up on your device. You can then check later whether the downloads were really removed. So tap on the gear in the top right to open the settings.

2nd step:

Now scroll down to the heading " Storage ". There you can see how much storage space the downloads are currently occupying.

3rd step:

Then select a playlist whose downloads you want to remove. Then tap the green slider in the top right corner.

4th step:

The downloaded songs will now be deleted from your smartphone . If you remove a song from a downloaded playlist, it will also be deleted from your smartphone as an offline file.

5th step:

In order to check that the downloads have really been deleted, return to the settings and look at the storage space allocation.

Remove podcasts from the smartphone

You can download individual podcast episodes on your smartphone. You can remove them in the same way:

1st step:

Select a podcast whose download you want to delete from your smartphone. Then tap on the green arrow next to it.

2nd step:

Then tap on the " Remove " button . The podcast download will then be removed from your device.

Quick guide: playlists

1. Open the Spotify app on your smartphone and open the settings by tapping the gear in the top right corner. There you scroll down to the heading " Storage ". You can now see how much storage space your downloads are using. In this way you can later check whether the deletion was successful.
2. Now open a playlist whose downloads you want to delete and then tap on the slider in the top right corner. The offline files should now be deleted from your smartphone .
3. To check this, go back to Settings and see how much space your downloads are now taking up.
