Headers or footers are often necessary in order to visually arrange Excel tables in printed form. In the following we show you two ways of inserting these lines in the individual workbooks.

Insert headers and footers via "Page layout"

1st step:

Open Excel, then click " Paste " in the menu bar at the top . Then select " Header and Footer ".

2nd step:

You will now see the page layout view. Only in this are the headers and footers visible. However, they will always appear on the printed document, regardless of the view you are in.

Create headers and footers via "Page setup"

1st step:

Open Excel and select " Page layout " in the menu bar at the top . Then click on " Print Title ".

2nd step:

Select the " Header / Footer " tab in the new window . You can then click on the " Custom header " item below to create a header. If you click Custom Footer , you can edit the footer.

Now fill the three fields of the line with any text. To save the changes you have to click " OK " in the current window . Behind it is another window, the settings of which you can also apply by clicking on " OK ".

Brief instructions: Create headers and footers using "Page setup"

  1. In the menu bar click on " Page Layout " and then on " Print Title ".
  2. Then you have to select the tab " Header / Footer " in the new window . Here, click the appropriate " Custom Header " or " Custom Footer " button .
  3. There are now three fields available that you can fill with text and further customize. Confirm with " OK ".
  4. Then close the " Page setup " window also by clicking " OK ".
