Videos are playing an increasingly important role on Facebook. If you want to watch these videos offline, you need to save them on your device. That doesn't work directly on Facebook. We'll show you which apps and programs work on the iPhone, your Android device or your PC.

How to save Facebook video on your computer

In order to download a Facebook video to your PC, you need to use a website that converts the video URL. You can then download the file. In our instructions we used the fbdown.net page. Here you can see how you can save videos in the old Facebook design or in the new Facebook design .

Old Facebook design: save videos

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

Right click on the Facebook video that you want to save. Then go to " Show video url " in the menu .

2nd step:

Highlight the URL of the Facebook video that you want to download. To make sure you've got the whole url, you can use the keyboard shortcut [Ctrl] + [A] . Then copy the URL using the key combination [Ctrl] + [C] .

3rd step:

Open the website " https://www.fbdown.net/ " and paste the URL into the free field . Then click on " Download ".

4th step:

Finally, go to " Download Video in Normal Quality ".

5th step:

The video will now be downloaded.

New Facebook design: save videos

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

For the video that you want to save, click on the three dots in the upper right corner . Then click on " Copy link ". A push message confirms that the link has been copied.

2nd step:

Then open the website https://www.fbdown.net/ . There you paste the link into the field and click on " Download ".

3rd step:

Finally, go to " Download Video in Normal Quality ". The video will now open in the browser.

4th step:

By right-clicking on the video to open a menu. Then select " Save video as ... ". In the subsequent dialog, select a storage location for the video and then click on " Save ". Then the video is downloaded and saved in the desired location.

Save Facebook video from private groups to computer

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

Right click on the Facebook video that you want to save. Then click on " Show video URL " in the selection menu that opens .

Select the entire URL of the Facebook video and copy it using the key combination [Ctrl] + [C] . Now open a new tab and paste the URL there with [Ctrl] + [V] .

3rd step:

Now press [Ctrl] + [U] to display the source text. Copy this completely. Preferably with [Ctrl] + [A] and [Ctrl] + [C] .

4th step:

Open the website http://getfbstuff.com/download-private-video and paste the entire source code into the free field. Then click on " Download ".

5th step:

On the page that opens, scroll down to the " Download SD Video " button . Click on it with the right mouse button , go to " Save target as " and select the desired storage location . The Facebook private video will now be saved on your computer.

Download Facebook video in Android

Facebook videos are very easy to download to your Android device using special apps. In our example we have chosen the "Video Downloader for Facebook" app. There are other video download apps available in the Google Play Store that all work in a similar way.

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Download the " Video Downloader for Facebook " app from the developer FastVid from the Google Play Store . After launching the app, tap " Browse Facebook ".

Now log into the app on Facebook .

Now tap on a video in your Timeline or on a Facebook page . A menu then opens.

4th step:

There you go to " Download ".

After the download finishes, the video is saved in the fb.video.downloader folder . If you don't already have a file manager like ES File Explorer on your smartphone, you will need to download another one to access the saved video. Such a file manager is often preinstalled on your device.

Download Facebook video on iPhone

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

First, download the free "Friendly for Facebook" app from the App Store . This app allows you to download videos from the timeline . Log in to the app with your Facebook data and scroll in the Chronicle simply to a video that you want to save. Then tap on the cloud in the lower right corner.

2nd step:

Go to " Download Video to Camera Roll " to save the video in the Photos app .

Then tap " OK " to allow the app to save to the Photos app . The video will now be downloaded.

Now open the Photos app .

Note : If you want to download videos from a site's video collection , this works with the Facebook app and the MyMedia - File Manager from the App Store . Copy the video URL in the Facebook app and then use the browser integrated in the MyMedia - File Manger to download the videos as you would with a computer.

  1. Right click the video in Facebook, then click " View Video URL ".
  2. Copy the URL shown .
  3. Go to the website " https://www.fbdown.net/ " and paste the URL into the field next to " Download ". Then click on " Download ".
  4. Download the file by clicking " Download Video in Normal Quality ".

Quick Start Guide: Save Facebook Video to Computer (New Design)

  1. Click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the video . Then choose " Copy Link ". A push message confirms the link copy.

  1. Download the Video Downloader for Facebook app from the Google Play Store and start it. In the app, tap on " Search Facebook ".
  2. Log into the " Video Downloader for Facebook " in Facebook.
  3. Tap on a video and then go to " Download ".
  4. You can find the downloaded videos in the fb.video.downloader folder on your Android device .
