You have the option of synchronizing your online Google calendar with Thunderbird. This gives you access to your Google Calendar without having to log into your account in the browser. Before you can import the calendar into Thunderbird, you have to install the two add-ons "Lightning" and "Provider for Google Calender". In the following we will show you how to download the add-ons and how you can then synchronize your Google calendar:

Prepare Thunderbird

1st step:

First you open Thunderbird and click on " Extras " in the menu above and select " Add-ons ".

2nd step:

A new tab will now open in Thunderbird and you will be taken to the add-ons management. Click on " Extensions " in the menu on the left .

Now enter " Lightning " in the search field at the top right and confirm with [ Enter ].

From the search results displayed, look for the Lightning add-on and click on " Install " to the right of it .

The add-on will now be downloaded.

After the add-on is downloaded, you will be prompted to reload Thunderbird . The add-on is then installed.

After you have installed the two add-ons, the item " Appointments and Tasks " will appear in your Thunderbird menu bar . Click on it and select " Calendar " with one click.

Right-click in the calendar list in the left column and select " New calendar ... ".

Now a small window will open. There you have to decide where your new calendar should be saved. Select " In the network " to integrate your Google calendar into Thunderbird. Then click on " Continue ".

You will now be redirected to a new window where you can choose which external calendar you want to access. Select " Google Calendar " there and confirm your entry with " Continue ".

Now enter your Gmail address in the input field that appears and confirm again with " Continue ".
