YouTube Live allows you to broadcast live streams on the platform. All you need is a verified account. How to get it and then start a live stream is explained in the following article.

Verify YouTube account

Whether you're streaming a video game, hosting a live Q&A or giving a lecture, YoutTube Live allows you to share your content in real time with your subscribers. Before you can start a live stream, however, you must first verify your YouTube account. But that is done very quickly. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Open Youtube in your browser and click on your profile picture in the top right corner . Then select the " Settings " entry .

Now click on " Channel Status and Features ".

Then click the " Confirm " button under your name .

Now select a desired method for confirmation and then enter your mobile phone number, to which a confirmation code will then be sent. Then click on " Send ".

You will then receive a six-digit code as an SMS on your mobile phone. Enter this and click on " Submit ".

You should then see a confirmation message that your account has been successfully verified. Click on " Next ".

Then you still have to activate the live stream feature. Simply scroll down and click on " Activate " under " Livestreaming ". You then have to wait another 24 hours until the live streaming is finally activated for you.

Start the live stream on YouTube

After you have confirmed your account, nothing stands in the way of starting a live stream on YouTube. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

Open YouTube and click the camera icon in the top right corner . Then select " Start livestream " from the menu that appears .

You will then likely get a message from your browser that YouTube wants to use your microphone and camera. Click on " Allow ".

Now you can name your stream and decide whether it should be public or private . Then click " Next ".

You will now see the stream preview . Click Start Live Stream to begin the stream.

You are then live. To end the stream, click on the " End stream " button below .

You will then see the statistics for your stream. You can edit this later with " Edit in Studio " and cut out unwanted scenes. With " Done " the stream will then be saved on your channel and available to your subscribers.

Quick guide: Confirm account

  1. Open YouTube, click on your profile picture in the upper right corner and select " Settings ".
  2. Then go to " Channel Status and Features " and then click " Confirm ".
  3. Now choose your preferred method of receiving the confirmation code and enter your telephone number. Then click on " Submit ". Then enter the code and click " Submit " again.
  4. You will then receive a message that your account has been verified. Click on " Next ".
  5. Now activate the livestream function by scrolling down and clicking on " Activate " under " Livestreaming " .

Quick guide: Live streaming

  1. Open YouTube, click the camera icon in the upper right corner and select " Start livestream ".
  2. Then click " Allow " in the browser message to allow YouTube to use the microphone and camera.
  3. Now give your stream a suitable name and make all the other settings you want. Then click on " Next ".
  4. Then click on " Start livestream ". To stop the stream, click Stop Stream .
  5. You can then " Edit in Studio " your stream before it is added to your channel, or you can upload it directly via " Done ".
