Google is gradually adding night mode to a few of its apps, such as YouTube and Google News. For a long time, Google Maps has supported the dark mode called "night mode", which turns the navigation interface black. However, the feature cannot be activated manually. Today we're going to show you how to force this setting to stay on all the time. Here's how to force Google Maps night mode to stay on on Android..
How to force Google Maps night mode to stay on on Android
1. Launch Google Maps.
2. Go to “Map Settings”..
3. Enter "Navigation settings".
4. Scroll to “Map display” and change the setting to “Color schemes”..
Note: The names of the steps may vary depending on the software version you are using.
To be clear, this tutorial doesn't fully tell you how to add dark mode to the Google Maps app - which doesn't entirely exist (yet). On the other hand, Google offers an option built into the app that allows you to easily force Night Mode to be on all the time. It is set by default "automatic" which closes the color scheme or depending on the time.
1. Start Google Maps
First you will have to launch Google Maps on your phone. Make sure you are running the latest version of the app. The version of Google Maps where the switch started to exist is not specified.
2. Access the Google Maps settings
Once Google Maps is open, go to the settings menu. On Android, you can do this by swiping in the menu from the left of the screen and then tapping on “Settings”, which is towards the bottom of the list.
3. Access the navigation settings
To add Spotify to Google Maps, you will then have to go to the “Navigation settings” in the app. On Android, you can do this by scrolling to the bottom of the settings menu and looking for the section labeled as “Navigation settings”.
4. Scroll down to "Map display" and change "Color scheme settings"
Once you go to "Navigation settings", scroll two-thirds of the page to view the section title "Map view" or "Map". You can then choose between: "Automatic", "Day" and "Night", or you can choose how the "Night mode" will be activated on your Android. To force a constant mode of navigation of Google Maps, you will want to select the option "Night". Turning it on, wherever you go while browsing, it will show the map with a dark theme, at least on your phone screen.
