In the following, we will give you helpful tips on what you can do in Windows 10 to protect your child.

Windows parental controls using the family group

Note: To be able to create a family group with restrictions, your child needs their own Microsoft account.

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions ..

1st step:

To get the most out of parental controls, you need to create a family group. To do this, create a family group with your Microsoft account. Then you need to create a Microsoft account for your child and add them to the family group. You can create the family group through the Microsoft website .

2nd step:

In the next step, indicate that you want to add a " child ". To do this, you need to provide the email address of the child's Microsoft account and then click " Send invitation ".

3rd step:

Now you have to click on " Accept now " next to " Pending member " - while you are still logged in with the parent account. You will be logged out via the Accept button and will then have to log in with your child's account .

4th step:

After you have entered your registration data, confirm joining the family group with " Yes ".

Several functions and assistance from Microsoft / Windows are now available to you on the family group side. Click an option for more information and to set up the restrictions.

You can now find more information about the range of functions on the family group website. You have the option of setting various restrictions:

quick start Guide

  1. Go to the Microsoft Family Groups website and click Create a Family Group.
  2. Then select " Add a child " and enter the email address associated with the child's Microsoft account. Confirm the addition via " Send invitation ".
  3. Then click “ Accept Now ” in the “ Pending Member ” section and log in with the child's account.
  4. Now you have to confirm by clicking on " Yes " that this user should join the family group as a child.
  5. At the bottom of the family group page, you will now see the various options with which you can apply restrictions.
