Whether you are too busy or just don't want to speak to the caller, you can also simply decline a call. However, this function is not that easy to find on the iPhone. Because in the locked state you only see one button to accept the call.

Reject a call with the push of a button

If your iPhone is locked when you receive a call, all you will see on the screen is "Swipe to answer". If you press the power button on the right of the iPhone or one of the volume buttons on the left, the call is muted. You only switch off the ringtone and the vibration, but you can still take the call.

But if you press the power button twice in a row , the call will be rejected and not just muted. The caller will then be informed of this and, if available, will be forwarded to your mailbox so that they can leave a message for you.

Reject call on screen

If your iPhone is not locked during an incoming call, you will see the Accept button and the Reject button to the left of it. To decline the call, just tap the red button . In this case, too, the caller will be informed and forwarded to the mailbox..

Reject a call with headphones

If you are using headphones when you receive a call, you can use the headphones to decline the call. To do this, all you have to do is press and hold the middle button on the iPhone headphones or the pressure sensor on the AirPods until you hear two beeps. The call is then rejected.
