A comprehensive Steam library also takes up a ton of storage space. With the purchase of a new hard drive, of course, your games also have to move. But thanks to the Steam settings, this can be done with just a few clicks.

Change the Steam game directory

1st step:

Click on " Steam " in the upper left corner and then on " Settings ".

2nd step:

In the settings you have to select " Dowloads " on the left . Then click the " Steam Library Folder" button .

3rd step:

You can use " Add Directory " to create a new storage folder.

4th step:

The games already installed will not be moved. The storage location is only set for games that will be installed in the future. Games that have already been installed must be moved manually. To do this click with the right mouse button on a game and choose " Properties " from.

5th step:

At the top you have to click on the tab " Local files ". Then select the item " Move game files ... ". This point only appears if several storage directories are stored on Steam.

6th step:

You will now find an overview of possible storage directories. Choose a file path and click Move . The game files can now be found in the new location. By the way: If you have only added one storage location, only this will be displayed. The current save path is not in the list because the game is already there.

2. Click on " Downloads " to " Steam Library folder ".
3. With " Add Directory " you can select a new storage location for games.
4. You have to move installed games by hand. To do this click with the right mouse button on a game and select " settings from".
5. In the " Local files " tab you then have to click on " Move game files ... ".
6. You will now be offered the folder that you previously specified. With a click on " Move ", you can move your Steam games there.
