Update the Steam client

Often times, Steam will automatically notify you of updates in a pop-up window. However, if you haven't received updates in a while, you should check for them manually. To do this, click on " Steam " in the upper left corner of Steam and then select " Check for Steam Client Updates ". You will then be shown whether updates are available for installation.

You can manually find updates to the Steam app using Check for Steam Client Updates.

Manage downloads of updates

The games from Steam also usually keep themselves up to date. Updates are downloaded just like installations and can be viewed in the download menu. When you install a game, you can choose whether you want updates to be carried out automatically. In most cases this is advisable because games can only be played with the latest version.
