With the help of templates, you can not only set headings in your Word document and then create an automatic table of contents afterwards. You can also define the formatting for all of your text yourself - either in advance or for text that has already been written. In this tipps + tricks article, we will show you how you can create your own Word templates.

Create your own Word template

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Select the text that you want to edit with the new format template and right-click. If your document doesn't have any text yet, you can just click on the blank page. Connecting d go to " styles ". There you select " Create format template ".

2nd step:

Enter a title for the new template and click on " Change " to make further settings.

You can now format your own template. In the drop-down menu next to " Style type ", you can specify whether it is a " Paragraph, Character, Lists or Tables " template . If you want to base it on an existing format template , you can select the corresponding template in the line below. Finally, you can set parameters such as font size and type or line spacing and offset . The middle window automatically shows you what your settings look like. Finally click on " OK " ". You will then find your own templates in the" Start "tab next to the other Word format templates.

  1. Right- click on the text to be formatted or in your blank Word document and click on the " Styles " button on " Create Style ".
  2. Enter a title and click on " Change ".
  3. Make the required formatting and then click " OK ".
