Update: A bug fix has been available since iOS version 13.4.5. The BSI is currently warning of major security gaps in Apple's mail app. The bugs make it possible for attackers to read, change and delete emails. The recommendation of the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) is: Delete the mail app from your iPhone or iPad or at least deactivate the synchronization. In this post, we'll show you how it works.

Deactivate synchronization of the mail app

A bug fix is ​​to be made available from iOS version 13.4.5. But until the update is not available for all devices, the security hole remains and you should only undo the settings after the update.

1st step:

Open the settings of your iPhone and tap on " Passwords & Accounts ".

2nd step:

Then go to your linked mail accounts ...

3rd step:

... and deactivate the slider next to " Mail ". Repeat the process for all mail accounts that you have linked to the mail app.

Then go back to the " Passwords & Accounts " overview and tap on " Data synchronization ".
