GIMP enables a subsequent white balance with good results. If you have taken a photo with a camera, it can happen that the color temperature of the light is not optimal. With the command "white balance" you can put the photo in the right light afterwards. How this works is explained step-by-step below .

1st step:

Open the photo to be edited via " File "> " Open " or directly via the key combination [Ctrl] + [O] . Select the image you want and click OK .

2nd step:

Now go to " Colors "> " Automatic "> " White balance " in the menu bar . The GIMP automatically performs the white balance for you via this setting and the color temperatures of the image are adjusted.

Open the photo you want to adjust via " File "> " Open ". Alternatively, the key combination [Ctrl] + [O] also works .

Navigate to " Values " via " Colors " in the menu bar .

Now click on the pipettes in the color value selection. Use the black color value eyedropper to mark the darkest area or color value on your photo. In the same way, mark the brightest point for all channels with the white pipette . The GIMP will then automatically adjust the image and perform a white balance. Finally confirm with " OK ".

  2. Choose Colors > Automatic > White Balance . GIMP does the color balance for you.

  2. Under " Colors " select the option " Values ".
  3. Click with the " white pipette " on the lightest point in the picture and with the " black pipette " on the area with the darkest point in the picture.
  4. Confirm the settings with " OK ".
