Would you like to delete your search or playback history on YouTube? No problem! We show how to do it..

If you are logged into YouTube with your Google account, YouTube will save your search queries and the videos you have viewed in the history. If you want to prevent other PC users from seeing your history, you should delete it regularly. In the following, we will show you how to do this with just a few clicks.

Note: The following instructions were performed with an Android device, but work the same on the iPhone.

1st step:

Open the Youtube app on your smartphone. If you are not yet logged in, do so now. Then tap the circle in the top right to go to your user profile.

2nd step:

Then tap on " Settings ".

3rd step:

For Android devices, tap on " History & data protection ". You can skip this step on the iPhone.

4th step:

Then tap " Playback Clear History " and " Clear search history ". On the iPhone, scroll down to " Privacy ". Here you can clear the playback and search history with one tap . You have to confirm your decision again. To prevent your search queries or videos you have watched from being saved in the history in the future, you can pause the search and playback history . To do this, simply tap on the corresponding switch .

1. Open Youtube in the browser . If you are not yet registered, please do so now.
2. Then click on the menu symbol ( ☰ ) in the top left .
3. Select " History " from the list that appears .
4. You will now end up in the playback history , which lists the videos you have recently viewed. You can clear the list by clicking on " Delete entire playback history ".
5. On the right-hand side, you can switch to the search history and also remove it via " Delete all search history ".
6. About " playback history pause " or " search history pause " You can prevent that in the future your searches and watched videos will be stored at all.

Quick guide: delete YouTube history on your phone

1. Open the Youtube app on your smartphone and tap on the circle with the first letter of your username in the upper right corner .
2. Then tap on " Settings ".
3. For Android devices , you now have to go to " History & data protection ", for iPhones scroll down to " Data protection ".
4. There you can delete the playback and search history, as well as pause the playback and search history so that no more search queries and videos are saved.
