The start menu in Windows 10 can be personalized in a variety of ways and adapted to your own needs. We'll show you tips and tricks you can use to redesign your Start menu.

Personalize the start menu in Windows 10 - this is how it works

Change tile size

If you want to change the size of the tiles on the right-hand side of the start menu, simply right-click on the relevant tile , move the mouse to " Resize " and then select the desired size with one click.

Reorder tiles

You can also rearrange the tiles by dragging them to the desired location with the left mouse button held down . If you drag a tile directly onto another tile , you can create groups . Several applications are then located in one tile. If you have many applications pinned to your start menu, this function makes it easier to organize and provides greater clarity.

Delete tiles

To delete individual tiles from the start menu, right-click on the relevant tile and then click on "Remove from" Start " ".

Adjust start menu width

If you don't want any tiles in your start menu and you have deleted all of them, you can adjust the width of the start menu . To do this, simply go with the mouse on the outer edge of the menu and drag it to the left to the desired width.

Pin apps in the start menu (new tiles)

Not only can you remove tiles, of course, you can also add new ones. To do this, simply right-click on the relevant application and then click on "Pin to " Start ". In the same way, you can also pack certain settings directly into the start menu for quick access. In the settings ([Windows] + [I]) also right-click on the corresponding option and pin it to "Start".

Further start-up settings

You can make further settings for your start menu via Settings > Personalization > Start . Among other things, you can specify here whether the most recently added or most frequently used apps should be displayed. To activate / deactivate, simply press the corresponding switch with one click .

Change color

If you navigate to Settings > Personalization > Colors , you can also change the color of the Start menu. Simply choose one of the given colors or create your own color using " Custom Color ". The tiles and apps are then highlighted with this color.
