How to write a tilde in the body of the text

With instructions and commands you can create characters and formatting in LaTeX. You can generate the special character of the tilde as follows:

  1. To write a tilde in math mode, use the command $\tilde{}$ .
  2. If you would also like to have the tilde over a letter in math mode, use $\tilde{a}$ . Replace the letter "a" with your desired letter between the curly braces.
  3. You need the command for a tilde over several letters $\widetilde{abc}$ .
  4. To get a tilde in the running text , \textasciitilde just use or \~{} .
