Would you like to add another Steam user as a friend? We'll show you how..

In order to be able to play games together in the future, you can add your fellow players to your Steam friends list. You can do this in two different ways: add friends using their name or send a quick invitation as a link.

Add friends on Steam

Warning: If your Steam account is a "restricted account", you cannot yet send friend requests or quick invitations. To do this, you must first remove the restriction on your account by making purchases worth at least 5 US dollars from your account. 1st step:

Open the desktop version of Steam and log in. At the bottom right of the window you will find the " Friends & Chat " area. Click on it.

2nd step:

A new window will now open: A list of all Steam friends. To add someone new you need to click the " Add Friend " button. This is the icon with the schematic person and the plus symbol.

3rd step:

Just look for the name of a friend you'd like to add to the " Find Friends " section on the right . Alternatively, you can send a quick invitation with an invitation link on the left . Note: If your left side looks like the picture, your account is a restricted Steam account. To remove the restriction, you must shop for at least $ 5 on Steam.

4th step:

All Steam users whose names match the name you are looking for are displayed here. Click on " Add as friend " on the right to send this user a friend request. As soon as the user confirms this request, he will appear in your friends list. The user you are looking for is not there? Above, Steam again offers you the option of sending a quick invitation with an invitation link directly to the person (e.g. by email).

1. Open the Steam desktop client. Now click on " Friends & Chat " in the lower right corner .
2. A new window is opening up. This is your friends list. Click on the icon that schematically shows a person and a plus symbol (right next to the magnifying glass).
3. You are now in the " Add Friend " section. Here you can either generate a link for a quick invitation or search for the profile name of your friend on the right.
4. If you have used the search function, all users with this name will be displayed. Select the correct user and click on " Add as friend " on the right . If you do not find your expected search result here, you can also create an invitation link by clicking on " Quick invitation", which you can send to the desired person, for example by email.
