In this post we will explain how you can use a password to increase the protection of your Word file..

In order to prevent unauthorized users from making changes in your Word document, you have the option of assigning a password to your file. Only owners of the password can then open and edit it. We will show you which steps are necessary to protect a file in Microsoft Word with a password.

Follow our step-by-step instructions , the quick start guide or the explanatory video .

1st step:

Start Word. Open your document, then go to " File " in the top right corner .

2nd step:

Then click in the left menu on " Information " and then on " Protect Document ". Select the item " Encrypt with password ".

3rd step:

Now enter your desired password and click " OK " to confirm . You will then be asked to enter the password again . Confirm again with " OK ".

4th step:

To finish, save and close the file. The protection takes effect the next time the document is opened.

Note: These instructions apply to Microsoft Office Word version 2010 or higher ..

  1. Open your Word document and click on " File ".
  2. Go to " Information ", then to " Protect Document " and then select " Encrypt with Password ".
  3. Now you have to enter your desired password . Confirm with " OK " and repeat the process of entering the password.
