It can always turn out to be useful to take a screenshot on Steam while playing. Be it to look for help online for a particularly tricky puzzle or to present a particularly great achievement. We'll show you how to take and process Steam screenshots.

Take a screenshot via Steam

Taking a picture of your game is very easy on Steam: Just press the [ F12 ] key on your keyboard while playing . If you have successfully taken a screenshot, you will hear a noise and a message from Steam will appear in the lower right corner: " [Game name] Screenshot saved ".

Warning: some games have assigned a different function to this key. If no screenshot is taken, the best thing to do is to take a look at the game controls to see if this button is otherwise assigned..

Process screenshot via Steam

If you have taken a screenshot within a game, the screenshot uploader will appear when you close the game. Here you can decide what you want to do with the captured screenshot: You can have the image " Displayed on the hard drive " and then go to the folder in which the image file is saved. You can also add text to the picture and click " Upload " to display it on your Steam profile. You can discard bad screenshots with " Delete ".

Should you ever want to access your screenshots outside of Steam, you can get there via Explorer. Go to the Steam file location (usually " Hard Drive C: \ "> " Programs (x86) "> " Steam "). There you have to open the folder " userdata " and click on the folder with the number for your Steam account. Then follow the path " 760 "> " remote "> " [Game ID number] "> " Screenshots ". If necessary, you need to try a little bit with regards to the number..
