Word can save you valuable time by grouping objects, shapes, and pictures. All formatting that you apply to an object in the group is automatically adjusted for the rest of the objects. Once grouped, Word treats your objects as one. We'll show you how to group objects and finally ungroup them in case you just want to make a single adjustment.

Preparation of pictures

" With text in line " is automatically set as the text break for inserted images . This setting prevents multiple images from being marked at once.

Change the break format for pictures using the small symbol in the upper right corner of the picture or in the " Format " tab under " Arrange " and then " Text break ". Here you can select any setting except "With text in line".

Open Word and click the first picture you want to select. Then hold down the [Ctrl] key and select all of the remaining images or objects that you want to combine into a group.
Note: More than one shape, picture or object must be selected for the grouping function. The button is not activated beforehand.

Optionally, you can also use the " Mark " selection menu under the " Start " tab to mark several images. You can either display "Select all", "Select objects" or the "Selection area". We choose the first option as an example.

To group pictures, switch to the " Picture tools " area. In the tab " Format " click the " Arrange " to " grouping ". Alternatively, you can right-click and select " Group ".
Note: For shapes or objects, the area is called " Drawing Tools ". Here, too, you will find the symbol for " Group " in the same place.
