An out-of-office message is useful if you want to go on vacation, for example. You can find out how to set one up in Thunderbird here..

Whether you are going on vacation, on a business trip or just sick - it can happen again and again that you are not in the office for several days and cannot check your e-mails. In such cases, you can set up a vacation notice that is automatically sent to your contacts as soon as they write you an email. This way they know that they cannot expect an immediate answer from you.

Create an out-of-office notice with the help of a filter

In order to be able to send out-of-office messages with Thunderbird, the program must always be open in order to receive new e-mails and to be able to reply to them. Your computer has to be switched on all the time when you are away! If that bothers you, ask your employer whether they have set up their own server for such cases. If you have linked an email account from one of the well-known email providers to Thunderbird, see the second guide . Otherwise, follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

First of all, you need to write your out-of-office reply. To do this, click on " Compose " in Thunderbird . In the " From: " field, enter the e-mail address from which you want to send your vacation notice. As the subject itself Eigent office reply .

2nd step:

Then select " No conditions " and under " Actions to be carried out " the option " Reply with template ". Then select the one you just created Template . Then click on " OK " and the filter is activated.

A vacation notice is automatically sent to all senders by the e-mail server.
