In WhatsApp you can use broadcast lists to send the same message to many contacts at once - without a group..

For many WhatsApp users, creating a broadcast list is a never-before-seen feature. It is super useful because you can send the same message to up to 256 contacts at once - without having to create a group. For example, you have a new mobile phone number and don't want to send it to each person individually? A broadcast list is perfect for this. We show you how it works:

What are broadcast lists?

In the case of a broadcast list, select the people to whom you want to send a message in advance. You then only have to type and send the message once. The difference to a WhatsApp group is that the recipients cannot see to whom the message has also been sent. When someone replies to the broadcast message, you will receive the message in private chat . So a message you have written goes out to many people, but the replies only go back to you privately. 1st step:

Open WhatsApp on your Android smartphone. Tap the three vertical dots in the top right corner. This opens a menu in which you select " New Broadcast ".

2nd step:

Now select people from your contact list . You can recognize marked people by the dark green tick next to the picture. Then tap on the green tick in the lower right corner.

3rd step:

Your broadcast list has been created. You can now type your message in the field below. If you tap on the arrow in the top left, you will return to the chat overview.

4th step:

Your broadcast list will now appear between your chats and you can tap it for further messages.

1st step:

Open WhatsApp on your iPhone . In your chats, tap on " Broadcast Lists " in the upper left corner .

2nd step:

Your created list will appear here later. At the bottom, tap New List to create a broadcast list for the first time.

3rd step:

Now select the people from your contact list who should receive the broadcast message. Marked people are listed next to each other at the top. Finally, tap on " Create ".

4th step:

This is what the chat window of a broadcast list looks like . Here you can type in your message and send it to the previously selected people.

5th step:

Broadcast lists are not listed in the chats on iOS, but are listed separately here. Tap on the arrow at the top left to go to the normal chat overview.

Edit & delete broadcast list on Android

1st step:

Open the broadcast list you want to edit and tap the three vertical dots in the upper right corner . This opens the menu . Select " Broadcast List Info ".

2nd step:

You can now change the name of the list by tapping on the pencil symbol on the right. You can also add contacts here. To do this, tap on " Edit recipient ".

3rd step:

To delete a contact from the list, press and hold the name of the relevant contact under " Recipient ". A new menu will open in which you can tap on " Remove person from broadcast list ".

4th step:

If you swipe down a little further in the " Broadcast list info ", you will find the item " Delete broadcast list ". Tap on it and the list will be completely removed immediately.

5th step:

Alternatively, you can delete the broadcast list directly in the chat overview . To do this, tap on the group and keep your finger pressed on it until the following window appears:

6th step:

Tap on " Delete " and, if necessary, check the box for " Delete media from phone ". This removes the group and is no longer in your chat overview.

1st step:

Under " Broadcast Lists " tap on the " ⓘ " to the right of the name of the broadcast list for which you want to make changes. If you want to delete a list directly , follow these instructions from step 4 .

2nd step:

You can change the list name at the top or tap on " Edit list ". There you can add new contacts to the broadcast list or remove existing contacts.

3rd step:

To remove, tap the " X " above the contact picture . To add, check the name next to the name as you did when creating the list . When you 're done, tap Done .

4th step:

To delete a broadcast list completely, first tap under " Broadcast Lists " on " Edit " in the top right corner .

5th step:

If you now tap on the red point to the left of the list name , the " Delete " field appears. Tap on it and the broadcast list is removed.

2. Select " New Broadcast " from the menu .
3. Select the recipients you want from your contact list. You can recognize marked people by the dark green tick next to the picture. Finally, tap on the green tick at the bottom right.
4. You can now compose the message. The broadcast list can be found in your chat overview for your other calls.

1. Open WhatsApp on your iPhone and tap " Broadcast Lists " in the upper left corner of the chat overview .
2. At the bottom, tap New List .
3. Highlight the people you want. A blue tick appears next to selected persons . Then tap on " Create ".
4. The broadcast list has been created and is located under " Broadcast Lists " and you can compose your message.

1. Open the broadcast list from the chat overview.
2. At the top right, tap the three vertical dots and select " Broadcast List Info ".
3. Change the name of the list by tapping on the pencil symbol on the right. To add or remove contacts, tap Edit Recipients .
4. To remove a contact, press and hold it down until a new menu appears. There select " Remove person from broadcast list ".
5. Deleting the list: Swipe down a little further in the broadcast info and tap on " Delete broadcast list ".
