When you insert page numbers in Word, they usually start on the first page with the number 1. But if you have a cover page or for some other reason do not want a page number on the first page, you can remove them in Word. You either have the option of simply not showing page number 1, or of page counting only starting on page 2 with page number 1. We explain how both alternatives work:

No page number on first page

Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the brief instructions .

1st step:

Open your Word document with the inserted page numbers.

2nd step:

Open the header and footer with a double click at the top or bottom of the document.

3rd step:

At the top of the menu, tick " First page different ". The page number on the first page will then disappear.
