1st step:

Download here the desired version of Ubuntu on your PC down. These instructions show the installation using Ubuntu 17.10. The current version with a longer support period is Ubuntu 20.04LTS (Long Term Support). The installation steps are the same.

2nd step:

Download the UNetbootin program .

3rd step:

Remove any USB memory sticks or USB hard drives. Insert an empty USB stick with a size of at least 8 gigabytes into a USB port. Now start UNetbootin with a double click. Select image and look for your downloaded Ubuntu version (you can usually find it in the "Downloads" folder) by clicking on the " three dots ". Next, select USB Drive under " Type " . There should now be a letter under Drive stand. Then click on " Next ".

4th step:

The Ubuntu image is now written to the USB stick.

5th step:

Finally click on " Finish ".

Note: If you are using UNetbootin from a Linux system, you may have to install the p7zip package. This works with the command " sudo apt-get install p7zip-full " in the terminal..

1st step:

Restart your computer again and select the USB drive as a boot device (boot device) in the BIOS of. As soon as your computer gives a sign of life, you will need to press a key that is specific to each computer. Check the options " Download updates while Ubuntu is installing " and " Install third-party software for graphics and Wi-Fi hardware, MP3 and other media " and click " Next ".

4th step

Select " Erase Hard Drive and Install Ubuntu " then click " Install Now ". Warning : The content on your hard drive will be completely deleted .

5th step:

Click on "Next" .

6th step:

Select your preferred time zone and click "Next" .

7th step:

Select your keyboard layout. If you use a German standard keyboard, mark " German " in the left and right column and click on " Next ".

8th step:

Now enter your name and the desired password and click on " Next ". Then the installation starts.

9th step:

Finally click on " Restart Now ".

10th step:

The Linux boot manager named " GRUB " may appear after the restart . Use the [ arrow keys ] to navigate to Ubuntu and press [ Enter ] .
