With Spotify Premium Family you get the possibility to share your premium account with other people. But how exactly does it all work? And what is allowed? Can other people who are not family members also use this offer? We clarify these questions here.
How does Spotify Premium Family work?
With the family plan, you can share your Spotify premium account with up to five other people. The subscription costs only € 14.99 per month, regardless of how many people are currently using the offer. This offer is already worthwhile with two users, as the premium subscription usually costs € 9.99 per month..
All users have their own account - everyone can play their own music and receive individual recommendations. When you upgrade to the family plan, you keep your account with all your playlists, songs and recommendations. So nothing is lost when switching.

Can friends also use the family plan?
According to the Spotify Terms of Use, the family plan is only intended for those who have the same address, i.e. who live under one roof. The intention, of course, is that family members who live together benefit from the plan. But friends or flat share members who live together can also use the subscription. It is not intended for this, but Spotify has not yet introduced a way to verify family members..
Spotify takes action against family plan exploitation
Of course, Spotify assumes that some Premium Family users break the rules and take advantage of the service. As a result, some users have received emails asking them to confirm their location. If this is not done, access to the family plan will be denied.
