Part 1: Save iMessage Pictures to PC One by One
Part 2: Store iMessage App Photos on PC in Bulk

If someone sends you an iMessage with multiple photos, you can download and save them. However, Apple prevents users from extracting and downloading files from their iPhone Message app to computer. For whatever reason (legal, sneaky, neurotic, etc.), we've all had that moment when we'd like to make backups of some meaningful or important iMessage images. You can do this individually or switch to a recovery program. Let's go! Let's see how to do it!

Part 1: Save iMessage Pictures to PC One by One

First, we are going to show how to save images from iMessage app to your computer one by one. This method does not require any tools. And it is suitable when a small number of files need to be backed up. It can take complex actions. In this part, we'll take the iPhone 7 as an example and show you how. Here are the steps of this method:

Step 1. Upload photos from iMessage app to Photos app..

  • Method 1. Run the Message app on your iPhone. Next, open the text thread that contains the images and then lightly tap on the image you want. After that choose "Save" on the popup message.
  • Method 2. In a certain text thread of the Message app, choose and open a photo. Then press the share button and select “Save Image”.

Step 2. Connect iPhone to your PC.

IMessage images are now stored in your Photos app. You can export them from Photos App to PC via iCloud. Connect your iPhone to the computer with a USB cable. And you have to "Trust" the computer..

Step 3. Locate the folder containing iMessage photos.

Double-click on the "This PC" button and locate your iPhone's name, which will be under "Devices and Drives" at the bottom of the "My PC" menu. Then, double-click on the “Internal storage” folder and then on the “DCIM” folder..

Double click on a folder. Since your iPhone doesn't store your photos and videos in sequential order, you might have to try a few different folders on this page before you find the photos you're looking for.

Step 4. Export photos downloaded from Photos app to PC.

Now you can save all the iMessage images you need by clicking and dragging them to your computer. But note that this method will not work on all iDevices. If that doesn't work, you can try the method in the section below.

Part 2: Store iMessage App Photos on PC in Bulk

Step 2. Preview and save images from iMessage to PC.

While scanning, do not unplug your iPhone 7 from the computer. And don't use it on your phone as it may disconnect it from the computer.

When the scan is finished, you can locate and open the message attachment in the left sidebar to preview your image files. All iMessage images will be stored in this folder. And they will be displayed on the window. You can selectively check the ones you want and hit the "Recover" button to save them to your computer.

That's all. You can choose the iMessage image saving method according to your need.
