The "Track Changes" function in Microsoft Word is very useful when you are working with several people on the same text document. With the help of the correction mode you can mark changes and insert comments. We explain how to activate the correction mode in Word and how you can use it:

Follow our step-by-step guide to learn how to activate and use correction mode.

1st step:

Open the Word document to be edited and open the " Review " tab at the top . Activate the correction mode by clicking on " Track changes ". All changes you make in the text are now highlighted.

2nd step:

If a change has been made in the text, the corresponding point is shown with a red line on the left .

3rd step:

If you click on this line , you will see the corrections marked in red : Underlined for changes, crossed out for deleted text.

Under the item " Show markup " you can set which type of corrections in the text should also be displayed as corrections. Just put a checkmark next to the corresponding options .

You can make settings for the colors and other correction settings by clicking on the small arrow in the lower right corner under " Tracking " in the menu bar . In the next window go to " Advanced options ... ".

To add a comment to a text passage or a change you have made , mark the relevant position and then click on " New Comment " at the top .

You can now write a comment to the right of the text . This will be provided with your profile picture and your name so that the other authors know who is responsible for which comment.

The comment column, you can hide by "on the top display Comments click". Then only speech bubbles are displayed to the right of the text. You can open the comments by clicking on the speech bubbles .

To reply to a comment , click the icon in the top right corner of the comment .

At the top of the menu bar you can choose whether you want to accept or reject corrections and changes . With a click on the corresponding button, the action is carried out when a marking is made and you automatically jump to the next correction.
